2013 Mercedes E Class

The current generation has been criticized for being way to boxy both inside and out. It is understandable that they waited after the  brand new 5 series to speed up development as seen in this spy image. People might feel cheated if it ends up looking like a small S class and like the C class if flipped back and forth from round lights, which BMW has always used to squarer shaped ones. BMW must feel confident to keep it's cars generally looking the same,  Mercedes not.  Interesting.

Update: This is the new C class spy shot.

Just my opinion but I like the exterior of the current E-class. I didn't care for the previous generation's melted-bar-of-soap look. But, I do agree the interior is too blocky/boxy looking.

The current generation E-Class is perfectly fine the way it is. It's something different. If people can't afford to get into higher trims that appear more elegant they should question themselves as to if they are just buying the car for name or they are purchasing a vehicle they can actually afford. Hell if I was buying one of these cars it would be for name because $80,000 dollars for a loaded E is too much for me.

I've never warmed up to the current E class, but I didn't like the previous one either. I've noticed on some new E classes that they've replaced the dual foglights on each side with a thin bar of LEDs. It looks much better. The duals looked like a bad chop!

The current E-class looks fine, almost archirctural. Mercedes finally does designs I appreciate and like to see on the road and they go and water it back down to the old wussy bar of soap look. May as well put a huge free standing hood ornament back on the nose.
